Software agents pass through systems like walls aren't there. What they can't do on their own is carry access safely. Someone has to give them a shape to hold it with.

A person drops it over him. It fits his shape, leaves holes so he can still see, and it's the only reason he can hold anything.

Stays in his hand only while the sheet is on. When the sheet comes off, he lets go of everything. The couch too.
